Architect Liu Jiakun suspended Brutalist raw concrete into the original mountain terrain rather than flattening the hilltop — the decision to let the building and the landscape coexist is itself this museum's most important work.

"Walk the raw concrete corridor inside. The deliberate geometric gaps the architect left open act like cinema viewfinders, cutting the Jialing River, cliff vegetation and sunset light into precise frames. This is a good place to watch the sunset, and the galleries run a continuous rotation of free exhibitions without crowds. Here, the building's deconstruction of the terrain is the most powerful exhibit in the space."
