A serene enclosed valley in Youyang accessible by following the route through Dayou Cave entrance into the hidden valley, through Taigu Cave, and ending at Youzhou Ancient Town — the place that inspired Tao Yuanming's 4th-century fable about fishermen stumbling into a hidden utopia. The karst landscape is 300 million years old with stalactite formations of extraordinary scale.

"No direct high-speed rail to Youyang — take high-speed rail to Qianjiang Station, then taxi or bus onward to Youyang. Follow the recommended route: Dayou Cave entrance → Peach Blossom Spring valley → Taigu Cave → Youzhou Ancient Town for the evening. Inside Taigu Cave, watch for the underground mirror lake — the perfectly still water reflects the stalactites above and looks exactly like a bottomless abyss. You can stay overnight in forest treehouses in the valley, waking to cloud sea and bamboo. Avoid national holidays completely."
