About this place
A striking contemporary cultural complex dedicated to preserving and performing traditional Sichuan Opera, whose sweeping colorful rooflines were designed to mimic the dramatic water sleeves of opera costumes caught mid-flight.
Drifter says
"Take Metro Line 5 to Renhe Station. The museum itself is free — walk in anytime to see the elaborate costumes and historical exhibits. If you want to watch a performance, weekend matinees usually start around 2pm and tickets can be bought at the door. It's the most accessible way to witness Bian Lian — the legendary face-changing technique where masks switch in fractions of a second — up close."
