"Exit 2 of Renhe Station on Metro Line 5, ten minutes on foot. It doesn't come alive until after 8pm and runs hot until 2am. Find the stall with the most empty beer bottles piled outside and sit on a plastic stool. Order without hesitation: a case of Wei Yi soy milk, one serving of roasted brain in heavy chili, two dozen garlic oysters. Watch bare-chested locals play finger-guessing drinking games at full volume. This is the real Chongqing late-night survival guide. Note: crayfish is summer only, May to August."
