A 600-year-old town that refused large-scale commercial makeover — in reality just a single ancient street a few hundred meters long, but with original timber-frame buildings, stone-paved lanes and the Liujia Courtyard's ancestral hall atmosphere still intact, and a large number of original residents still living here.

"Unlike the fake ancient towns selling mass-produced trinkets, the old-brand wine shop, soy sauce store and pharmacy here are still operating. Hand-made sugar paintings, tofu cakes and rice crackers are the traditional snacks worth trying — and at noon, two tofu vendors near the exit always draw a queue. The real Chongqing old town experience: not performed for you, just there. Far from the city center — not worth a special trip unless you're passing through."
