About this place
The original Ming dynasty Hong'en Temple was destroyed in war — this hilltop park at over 400 meters elevation is built entirely on the former temple grounds and ancient burial sites, now crowned by a seven-story gilded pavilion at 468 meters that blazes with light after dark.
Drifter says
"If you don't want stairs, enter from the east gate — flat all the way through, easy going, ideal for a solo slow walk. From the top you can see both rivers and all four banks, with almost no tourists — the northern district lights spread out below in a completely different register from Yuzhong's night view. To avoid the pavilion crowds entirely, find the Ming dynasty ancient well hidden in the forest halfway up the mountain. Stand beside it listening to wind move through the pines — this city built on ruins carries a depth that occasionally feels genuinely eerie. Temperature drops sharply at altitude; wear comfortable shoes, bring your own snacks, the mountain food stalls are unremarkable."
