A 1,700-year-old cliffside trading post in Youyang suspended above the emerald Wujiang River — one of the least commercially developed ancient towns in Chongqing, preserving original Tujia wooden stilted architecture along steep stone lanes.

"Combine with Youyang Peach Blossom Spring into a two-day Youyang trip. Critical packing warning: the entire town is steep stone staircases — do not bring a wheeled suitcase, only a backpack. Take the Wujiang River Cruise boat (around 50 RMB) to look up at the cliffside stilted houses from the emerald water — the perspective from the river is the one that makes the town's impossible location fully visible. Early morning before day-trippers arrive is when it's most itself."
