Honest expectation-setting: locals call this the Eastern Switzerland because Chongqing has almost no grasslands or snow elsewhere — for visitors from Europe or North America it is a beautiful highland meadow, not an alpine spectacle. The core appeal is cooling off and slowing down. Ticket 50 RMB, the scenic train inside costs an extra 25 RMB. Rent a bike and ride the highland roads in the morning before tour buses arrive."
