One of China's largest captive giant panda collections, embedded inside a lush urban park that locals use as much for morning exercise and tea as for the animals.

"Metro Line 2 to Dongwuyuan Station. Entry 25 RMB. Arrive exactly at 8am and go straight to the Panda House — pandas eat and play between 8:30 and 9:30am, then sleep for the rest of the day. After the pandas, find the old teahouse deep in the park: local grandparents drinking 10 RMB gaiwan tea and playing mahjong in the middle of a zoo. It's one of the more surreal and completely authentic Chongqing scenes you'll encounter."
