About this place

A thousand-year-old Buddhist temple hidden right off the main tourist artery of Ciqikou, its main hall constructed entirely from wood without a single iron nail.

Drifter says

"Five RMB gets you inside and instantly out of the deafening noise of the old town. Etiquette: step over the raised wooden threshold when entering the halls, not on it, and avoid pointing cameras directly at the Buddha statues. Climb to the Jianwen Pagoda at the top for a quiet elevated view over Ciqikou's layered tiled rooftops. Exit through the back toward Jinbi Mountain to find completely uncommercialized residential alleys, or head down to the river ferry."
