A former suburban villa converted into an infamous secret prison during the 1940s by Kuomintang intelligence, where political prisoners were interrogated, tortured and executed — one of the core sites of Chongqing's Red Rock wartime history.

"This is not a comfortable visit, and it's not meant to be. People were interrogated, tortured and executed in these rooms for their political beliefs during the 1940s. If you care at all about what Chongqing actually went through during the war years, this is the most honest place to confront it. Free entry but advance booking required via the 红岩联线 WeChat mini-program — ask your hotel to help. Open 9am to 5pm, closed Mondays. The 20 RMB shuttle connects this with Zhazidong — do both on the same day."
